  • Download the Firmware

As of 03/09/2008 the M3 home page no longer offers software downloads directly. The M3 Download link now prompts users to goto http://www.dsgogogo.com/, however, this page only contains M3 software tools and not the firmware. For the time being users can get the most recent game manager and loader firmware updates from HandHeldSources.com

Once the file is downloaded extract the compressed file to a directory you are comfortable working from.

  • Locate the appropriate downloaded firmware file

If you have a CF version of the M3 you need the file ./loader/<language>/CF/updategc.eXX

If you have a SD version of the M3 you need the file ./loader/<language>/SD/updagcsd.eXX

(XX is the version number. the most recent version was 35 when this article was last updated)

Please note that installing the CF firmware on an SD M3 Flash kit, and vice versa, may cause NDS bricking. Use care when updating your card and double check that you are using the correct firmware version!

  • Copy the firmware file onto the root of your CF/SD card

Just drag the file onto it, dont use the game manager. Root means the file is not in any folder or a sub folder

  • Insert the CF/SD card into your M3, and then put the M3 into your NDS
  • Important: Start your NDS in GBA mode

Select "Start GBA Game" from the original NDS menu

If you have installed FlashMe on your NDS, it will normally boot straight to the M3 in NDS Mode. As of FlashME v7 Slot2 is automatically booted, holding "Select" will bypass FlashMe and thus boot your Slot1 or the main NDS menu if no Slot1 card is present.

  • You will then be asked if you want to install the new firmware. Press start to install it or 'A' to bypass the install
  • Once it's finished, turn off your DS and remove the updagcsd.eXX file from your flash card using your computer.
